This piece is inspired by the Kavanagh building in Buenos Aires, the tallest skyscraper in South America when it was built in 1936. Designed by the Sánchez, Lagos, and De La Torre architecture firm, the Kavanagh became an emblematic example of rationalist and art déco architecture. In 1999, it was declared a Modern Architecture World Heritage Site by the UNESCO and a National Historical Monument. The bookcase reproduces the tiered structure of the building with a system of modular racks.
Bookcase made of Brazilian ipé wood. The production process is semi-industrial; the detail work and final waxing are performed in Rosario, Santa Fé province. Processed using CNC technology, the black boreal granite for the shelves is from the foothills of Córdoba province. The mechanical work is performed in Buenos Aires.
